  Sponsored by the Ministry of the Navy during the last period of the Pacific War, this animated film features the Japanese folklore hero, Momotarô (the Peach Boy) as a Naval paratroop commander who leads his soldiers to liberate a Pacific Island. The film was produced under extremely harsh conditions of the wartime, but the dirctor and writer, Seo Mitsuyo, succeeded in instilling moral lessons and hints of dreams and hopes for peace into this 75-minute propaganda movie. The disc also features "Spider and Tulip" by Seo's mentor, Masaoka Kenzo. Songs played by the Daitôa Orchestra and the Shochiku Orrchestra, and with the Nitchiku Chorus.

    Former assistant of reputed Kenzô Masaoka, Seo directed several short animation films of the "Monkey Sankichi" series for Masaoka Productions from 1933 till 1935, when he became independent and decided to focus on production tasks for the "Norakuro" talkie short films. The "Monkey Sankichi" war films pleased the Japanese government so much that during the Sino-Japanese war, in 1943 the Imperial Navy Department of Japan produced the first medium-length film of the nation, "Momotaro's Sea Eagles", followed by "Momotaro's Divine Sea Warriors" (1945), the first full-length animation film in Japan, both directed by Seo
